Pornography is generally not handled confidently within current sexuality education programmes and is frequently asked about by young people. Family Planning has produced What’s in a story, a four-lesson resource kit for Year 10 teachers that addresses the role of pornography.
This resource is designed to help young people understand that the pornography they may be seeing or seeking out isn’t real. It’s designed to give students the skills to unpick what they are seeing and to understand that what they are seeing is heavily edited and modified.
Pornography is linked to unrealistic ideas, harmful relationship behaviour, sexual uncertainty, the belief that women are sex objects and other negative behaviours.
Please note this resource is available as a free PDF. Email requests to firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a PDF copy. No hard copy components are supplied.
